Sacred and Profane Merge in Three Special Events on the Treasures of Malamocco
In the heart of Malamocco, a series of three special events combines art, culture, and gastronomy, offering the opportunity to explore the artistic treasures of our village. On the occasion of the restoration of the 18th-century painting Vergine in gloria by Giulia Lama and a Gothic-Byzantine wooden altar frontal, both restored by SAVE VENICE, Relais Alberti presents a unique series that delves into the chromatic symbolism of these works.
In collaboration with Professor Daniela Simionato-Putz, each evening will focus on a specific artwork, with a guided tour inside the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Malamocco, specially illuminated for the occasion. An aperitif and dinner at Relais Alberti will follow, with a menu inspired by the colors and themes explored during the event.
The series, titled “CHROMATIC SYMBOLISM BETWEEN ART AND FOOD: Sacred and Profane Merge in Three Special Events on the Treasures of Malamocco”, will take place over three evenings, each dedicated to an artwork and its chromatic symbolism.
The first evening, on July 24th starting at 6:30 PM, will focus on the 18th-century painting “VERGINE IN GLORIA” by Giulia Lama. The predominant colors of the painting—blue/azure, black, and brown—will inspire both the tour and the evening’s menu.
Here is the menu for the evening:

- Sardine skewers with lime and pink pepper
Seated at the table in the barn
- Tuna tartare with rosemary
- Risotto with cuttlefish ink and pea cream with mint
